SPORTS REHABILITATION
What is Sports Rehabilitation?
Sports Rehabilitation is Orthopedic Physical Therapy applied to an athlete.
As an athlete, you receive treatment for your injuries as well as education
on things like running style, throwing technique, and training methods.
Who would benefit from this specialty?
Anyone from high level professional athletes to weekend warriors would benefit
from these services. Sports injuries from running, soccer, golf, tennis, dance,
basketball, volleyball, biking, softball, baseball, skiing, and hockey have
been treated in our clinic.
Muscle strains or ligamentous sprains are injuries that physical therapists
evaluate and treat. All of our staff have athletic backgrounds and understand
the importance of returning you to your sport quickly and safely.
What services does BODYCENTRAL Physical Therapy provide with regards
to Sports Rehabilitation?
The physical therapists provide a thorough evaluation of your injury, study
your patterns of movement, and design a treatment program with your specific
activity in mind. For example, a volleyball player would receive a different
rehabilitation program than a baseball player. We also use
digital video movement assessment to address the mechanics of throwing, running,
jumping and other functional parts of your sport. We also offer bike fitting
for our road bikers and mountain bikers.
In our "Youth Sports Rehab Program", we work with Athletes ages 7 - 21. Initially, we treat the injury that brings the Athlete to PT. Then we prescribe additional sport specific exercises to return the Athlete safely back to his or her sport.
